Laptops

Laptops have changed the was we interact with the internet and how we organize information. We the portability of laptops we carry massive amounts of information anywhere we go. Though laptops have changed so much over the last ten years, they have evolved to serve our ever demanding need to interact with the technology world. Also the laptop has even evolved to fit specific tasks, like net books for travel and Mac's for design and PC's for data and processing.
The laptop is revolutionary because it makes the access to information and to the internet easily assessable anywhere. The screen has been designed to show video in high definition, there are plugs on the sides to allow the transfer and presentation of information, the keyboard for the input of information and cameras and microphones for visual and audio communication.

Hunger Games and all its Chairs!

I attended the midnight show of The Hunger Games, as a fan of the books I was really excited for the movie. Especially for the eccentric and lavish designs of the Capital. From the moment Katniss and Peeta step on the train they are in the world of the Capitol and they have so many different chairs. Which I have become a bit crazy about because we have been studying them all semester in school.  The First chair is from the Phillips Collection (Nuttapong) Seat belt chair according to Mythaidesign.com and http://www.phillipscollection.co/media.php?p=news&id=34.

The Third Chair is the "Elda" Chair by Joe Colombo (Read more about Joe Colombo here!)

The Fourth chair and the Second chair are yet to be found!

Starbucks

When you walk into any Starbucks Coffee shop there is a clear path from the door to the counter to order your coffee. Then in the rest of the shop there is lots of seating varying from small chairs and tables to large leather seats for comfortable long term seating.

The smells of the shop make you want to drink coffee. The chairs and tables are set up for either socializing or privacy. With the group seating you are set up to interact with your pears. Starbucks has a wide range of people it targets, but the people who spend time in the shop are college students and 20 somethings. This is because of the free wi-fi, which plays into today's technology age. As we use these spaces for talking about new ideas, studying and communicate with the world around us.

Throughout history the coffee shop has been the place for the sharing of ideas and thoughts. This space speaks the language of interaction and communication. It has maintained this language of socializing and communication as the space has evolved through time.

Group project 1

In this project I was put in a group of four and we were analyzing Samuel Barbers Adagio for stings. Out task was to each make a model out of 12 skewers and 12 4X6 piece of Bristol board. Then we were to collaborate and create and make a final model that incorporated all 4 ideas.
When we looked at and listened to the music and decided it had several main ideas/ feelings: Sadness, Dissidence, no resolve and gradual growth. Then as we all talked we decided that our model should grown but show the strain.

My idea was to gradual building of the music with visible dissidence. Also I decided to assemble my model by puncturing the paper with the skewers.

Then when we all came together we all had focused visually on the waves of the music and the growth.

From this on we took the growth of the sides.

From this one we took the construction of the base. and the vertical lines as structure.

From this one we took the waving forms and the over all construction.
